Where every piece is touched by hand
Hatheliya is a mother-and-child atelier of hand-painted textiles and hand-shaped clay jewellery — named for the hatheli, the palm of the hand that makes each one.
Made to order · Each piece one of a kind · Painted by hand

Crafted by hand, in two disciplines
Textiles painted stroke by stroke, and clay shaped between the fingers. Small collections, made slowly.

A craft passed from one hand to the next
Hatheliya began at a shared table — a mother and her child painting, shaping and finishing each piece together. Hatheli means the palm of the hand, and it is our whole method: everything here is made by hand, for someone in particular.
How a piece comes to be
Nothing here is rushed. Every piece moves through the same four hands-on steps — from a first sketch to the moment it is wrapped and sent.

The sketch
It starts with a conversation and a rough sketch — your colours and motif, drawn by hand before a single brushstroke.

The painting
Then the slow part: every line painted by hand onto silk or cotton, or shaped from clay between the fingers.

The finishing
Each piece is dried, set and finished with care, checked over — and quietly signed.

Sent to you
Wrapped by hand and sent with a note. One piece, made with one person in mind.
Commission a piece that is entirely your own
Sarees and handkerchiefs are painted to order over three to four weeks — your colours, your motif, your occasion. Tell us what you have in mind and we will paint it by hand.
